Our Story

Two years ago, a father and son were approached by some friends who were frustrated by their need as small business leaders to collaborate with their team members and to survive managing daily tasks from hired freelancers and the changing economy.

Other collaboration applications out there were just too expensive and complicated.Since William and his son Michael had both been independently running their own small businesses, they agreed they wanted to help. Together, they began exploring the problem more deeply.  Realizing that both were experts in their field they could work together and develop the solution together.

William Cook graduated from West Point and served as a young US Army officer. Since then, he has led and collaborated on many multi-billion dollar engineering projects as well as developed his own engineering firm, Intelligent Systems Research, Inc.  William has consistently made building great software ‘systems that think’ a reality. William Cook graduated from the US Military Academy.  Following graduation, as a US Army officer, he personally designed air defense operations and plans and software parameters for the US Army and NATO for the new Patriot missile system (the nation’s first software driven weapon system).  William then left the Army and became the manager of Patriot Command & Control development at Raytheon in Massachusetts, which included his instrumental role in the deployment of Patriot’s missile defense capabilities used in Desert Storm.  William then designed and led the development of the THAAD Missile Defense Battle Management system as Lead Engineer at Litton in southern California, leading over 230 engineers to develop the new software system that fights the entire battle automatically with its artificial intelligence.  William and his team invented new software design methods that affect and are used in software engineering to this day.  At Litton, William was the youngest recipient in history of Litton’s highest lifetime achievement award for Technical Excellence and Leadership at 34 and was later asked to be VP of Engineering at 38.  Northrop Grumman acquired Litton for $5 Billion two years later.

After successful development of THAAD, William left Litton to found his own engineering firm, Intelligent Systems Research, Inc. where he immediately began by designing an extensive functional architecture for ordering and fulfillment in the new Starbelly.com company in Chicago during the height of the Dot.com boom – the first of the Group On founders’ earlier companies, helping them sell Starbelly.com in January 2000, only four months after William’s initial design work, for $240M to Halo, Inc., with William’s fulfillment system design cited by Halo executives as a key reason for the sale.  Following the starbelly.com success, William grew his engineering firm to assist Lockheed Martin in architecting their MEADS missile defense system and the Army in creating and designing their new Integrated Air & Missile Defense Battle Management System (IBCS), now under development by a team led by Northrop Grumman.

William’s leadership, design work and sales efforts have been instrumental in Billions in sales revenues for an entire group of aerospace and commercial companies over the past 30 years, and created some of the most sophisticated systems in the world, with built-in artificial intelligence and unparalleled automation.
